Snakes, Lizards, and More at “Radical Reptiles” event

Rowe Sanctuary hosts education event focused on reptiles

Gibbon, NE (September 24, 2019) – Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary will host a reptile-focused event called “Radical Reptiles” on Saturday, October 5, from 1 – 4 pm. Participants at can search for snakes, lizards, and other reptiles while learning how to differentiate them from amphibians.

This family-friendly event has a variety of activities planned including a camouflage game, sorting card game, art activity and a hike to search for snakes, lizards, and other reptiles.

Nebraska Wildlife Encounter Zoo-seum in Kearney will bring live reptiles for participants to see up close. Some of the reptiles that will be shown are salamanders, red eared sliders, ornate box turtle, and a bull snake.

Rowe’s Education Manager, Rebekah Yates, says the program “is a great opportunity for people to learn more about our scaly friends and hopefully appreciate them more.”

“Radical Reptiles” is a free event and open to people of all ages. It is recommended that attendees where comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing as most of the activities are outdoors.
