Tastes in the Tallgrass: Sunset Dining on the Prairie

Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center hosts 12th annual fundraising event

Denton, NE (August 30, 2019) – Tastes in the Tallgrass is an annual sunset dinner on the prairie featuring live and silent auctions, acoustic music and carefully crafted food and drink. The event was created as a fundraiser to promote Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center's education and conservation efforts. Now, several years later, it has become one of Spring Creek Prairie’s most popular events.

The event is on Sunday, September 15, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Ticket price is $140/person ($100 of which is a tax deductible donation to Spring Creek Prairie). It is a BYOP (Bring Your Own Plate) event to mark each person’s eco-friendly place at the table. Silverware will be provided plus compostable bags for attendees to take their plates home in.

The silent and live auctions will have a variety of items to bid on such as local art pieces, a Montana vacation package, a signed and framed print by Joel Sartore, a family package for a Private Penguin Encounter at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, and many more.

“We have donors that look forward to this event every September,” said Kevin Poague, Operations Manager at Spring Creek. “It’s definitely a highlight in their year to come out and see the tall grasses and join with others in their celebration of the tallgrass prairie.”

In the event of a weather-related cancellation, attendees will be notified by e-mail and notices will be posted to Spring Creek Prairie's website and social media.

Seating for Tastes in the Tallgrass is limited; for more information, call (402) 797-2301 or email scp@audubon.org.
